Tien Giang invests in developing craft villages associated with tourism

In the period from 2016 to 2020, Tien Giang Province will invest nearly VND 500 billion in preserving and developing craft villages associated with tourism, training on management and technical knowledge for the staff, supporting vocational training facilities in rural areas and organizing skill contests.


The province is focusing on solutions to restoring and encouraging the sustainable development of craft villages. Accordingly, several famous traditional brand names including “hủ tiếu” (noodles) of My Tho, “bánh phồng” (crackers) of Cai Be, “bánh tráng” (rice paper wrappers) of Hau Thanh and altar of Go Cong will be prioritized for development to promote their products to visitors.

In addition, Tien Giang Province will also invest in scientific and technological innovation, trade promotion, development of product brands and rural infrastructure, simultaneously provide favorable conditions for production facilities in craft villages to develop and exchange commodities with other localities in the country.

Tien Giang has 14 craft villages, 5 of which are traditional craft villages, attracting the involvement of 3,268 households with nearly 5,400 workers. The craft villages concentrate in districts of Chau Thanh, Cai Be, Cho Gao, Cai Lay, Go Cong Tay; in towns of Go Cong and Go Cong Dong and My Tho City.
